Dancing Light Photoshop Tutorial (Transcript of Video)
Welcome once again to Mastering Photoshop. In this tutorial you are going to learn the lighting effect and you may call it optical flare effect or lens glare effect or whatever you want to call it. The effect looks very complicated to achieve, especially if you are a beginner with the Photoshop. But it’s pretty easy and probably it’ll take less than 20 minutes to learn this effect and considering the abstract nature of the effect the creative possibilities are endless.
Let’s have a look at the PSD file, and it’s a pretty simple project if you open the PSD file from your project folder you’ll find it very simple, so but we’ll start it from the scratch and let’s build this effect once again. So we’ll start with the stock image file and this is the dancer and the image is from shutter stock images. So let’s say CNTRL+A to select all and copy it by pressing CNTRL+C and go back to the project file and say CNTRL+V to paste. Now the original stock image is in very high resolution, so you’ll find it very huge file pasted on your canvas, so let’s say CNTRL+T to transform and SHIFT+ALT and drag it to scale it down to appropriate size.
Hit Enter to accept and now as you see that if you have to cut out this image to create a clip out of this image, then you can’t do that with the path alone because it’s a complicated cut out with hair flying in the air. So let’s create the mask and let’s go over the mask way. So to create the layer mask click on the create new layer mask button over here and you got the mask, now if you are using CS6 then you can double click on this mask to get the mask properties. If you are using CS5 then you can go to Window and you can look for the mask option there and select Mask then you’ll get more or less similar option even in CS5. Now with these properties we’ll click on colour range and it’s not difficult it’s just tricky, so be patient and you’ll see that, within a few minutes you’ll get a nice fine cut out of this image. Now let’s take the plus eye dropper and add some areas and if you look at the mask over here, you’ll see we are in good shape with the mask and let’s say ok to this....
